2015 Recap:
12th Annual FEA Student Gathering

At the 2015 Annual FEA Student Career Academy, 47 high school students and their teachers from around the state traveled to Fairbanks to take part in a three-day learning experience. This year’s event took place at the UAS campus in Juneau.

On the first day of the academy, students had a tour of the campus, including the dorms, food court and recreation center. During this time they also built their résumés, held mock-interviews and discussed job skills. Afterwards, they held a larger group discussion about developing job skills.

On the second day of the academy, students were welcomed to the campus by Dean Lo, where there was an overview of the UAS Education program. Education is an evolving adventure, and there was discussion of education in the 21st Century. Afterwards they shared lunch with current Education students. They continued on to the Native and Rural Student Center, Financial Services and learned about Science Education as well. Later they learned about technology in the classroom with Lee Graham, learned about all student services, admissions requirements and went to the Recreation Centergym. After a city bus tour of Juneau, they had pizza and a movie at the Recreation Center.

The 2015 FEA Student Career Academy closed with students’ election speeches and the election of CTSO officers for the 2015-16 school year.
